Dropping Julia is a Charlottesville-based, 90’s-inspired pop, funk and R&B group presenting modern pop music fused with authenticity and soul, lending it a retro and nostalgic glow.
I was approached by the band to help craft a visual identity, and through several rounds of refinement, we were able to create branding that captured their unique style and classic 90’s vibe.
Rimel & Proutt
John Rimel and Tom Proutt are award-winning songwriters from central Virginia performing a mix of original Americana, Folk, Blues and Gospel. It was an honor to assist the duo with their debut album, When the Needle Hits the Wax, which was under consideration for a Grammy.
This project consisted of overseeing the art direction for all aspects of the duo’s visual identity, including logo & branding, photography, album design, social media, and web design.
The Charlottesville Derby Dames are a competitive, flat track roller derby team with a mission to promote sportsmanship and community by providing an alternative form of fitness and entertainment to the women and men of Charlottesville and surrounding counties.

Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Trade and Contract (formerly Designer Marketplace) is a branch of the parent company providing resources and home furnishings for professional designers and decorators.
Working with the company for over 8 years, I have produced web and print collateral for the marketing departments of brands including Williams-Sonoma Home, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Rejuvenation, and Mark & Graham.
Hannah Goes on Safari
Hannah Goes on Safari was a privately commissioned children’s book developed in 2018. The project included custom digital illustration, art direction, and content development.
Allen & Allen
Allen & Allen is a Richmond-based personal injury law firm with over 100 years of experience experience advocating for the legal rights and interests of injured persons.
Working with Allen & Allen over the last few years, I have developed print and online marketing collateral with a focus on maintaining consistency of branding and improving the user experience navigating the unfamiliar process of personal injury law.
When I was approached by Klappcakes, an award-winning bakery just getting off the ground in California, they were looking for identity development from the ground up. Working together, we created a complete branding package including logos, business cards, product packaging, and social media visuals.
Additionally, we developed a website on the WordPress platform to represent the simplicity of the current brand, yet able to scale as they continue to grow.
FireStat, developed in conjunction with FEMA for the National Day of Civic Hacking, provided an interface for data visualization of fires throughout the US. Our goal was to create a tool that could be used to simplify navigation and break down the data to draw meaningful conclusions.
Our web app was built on a PHP/MySQL backend using the Twitter Bootstrap framework on the front end, as well as commercial mapping and graphing packages. Out of 11,000 participants, this project was one of 20 recognized by the White House at the Champions of Change event.
Tastes of Brooklyn
As featured recently in the New York Times, Tastes of Brooklyn is a series of field-to-fork events and an annual outdoor festival featuring Brooklyn's top culinary talent focused on food, greening & fresh produce for all kids.
This site was designed and developed from scratch as part of their overall visual branding strategy to be used in featured promotions. The site features a custom CMS integration, allowing ease of use in managing blog postings and events using their existing backend system.
OpenSource Connections is a pioneer in the search relevance industry, providing training and consulting to teams that translates into implementable search solutions. Based in Charlotresville, Virginia, they provide worldwide search solutions as well as founding Haystack, the premiere search relevance conference.
Working with OpenSource Connections over the last 6 years, I have provided print and web materials for the primary brand, as well as visual design and information architecture for Quepid, their proprietary search relevance tuning software, and the Haystack search conference.
Working with the web and marketing teams of WorldStrides, we modernized the online presence of the Corporate and educational DiscoverNow! divisions. Both sites were developed on a WordPress platform, including a custom mobile-responsive design, as well as plugin functionality for social integration and the data management needs of a large organization. Additional projects included development of print, web and email marketing materials and branding for various child companies of the WorldStrides brand.
Rock the Vote
This project was a collaboration with Rock the Vote to conduct a multimedia promotion for middle and high school students to encourage voting in their communities. This project was built on a custom PHP/MySQL platform with video and image upload, a custom admin for submission review, and voting functionality to allow student participation in selecting the winners.
